On Aug 2, we had a P0 because of a sudden spike in Sidekiq jobs. The
queue went up to 100k jobs and workers scaled from 400 threads to 1000+.
Most of the jobs were HookJobs, and a large chunk of them were for
Linear but they weren’t doing anything useful.
Turns out, whenever there’s an update on a contact or conversation, we
were triggering all account-level hooks without checking if the event
was relevant. So if someone did a bulk import or ran an update, it would
enqueue a huge number of unnecessary jobs.
This PR adds two checks before enqueuing:
- Whether the hook is active
- Whether the event is relevant for that hook

## Description
This PR includes the following enhancements to the conversation card
context menu:
1. **Added "Open in New Tab" and "Copy Conversation Link" options.**
* "Open in New Tab" allows users to quickly open a conversation in a

* "Copy Conversation Link" copies the conversation URL to the clipboard
for easy sharing.
2. **Enabled the context menu in Previous Conversations card** with
support for these two options.

Add bounced emails to the conversation thread.
Fix Gmail bounce detection by checking the X-Failed-Recipients header.
Currently, bounced emails are rejected as auto-replies, which causes
support agents to miss important delivery failure context. This PR
ensures bounced messages are correctly added to the thread, preserving
visibility for the support team.

## Description
This PR includes improvements to Inbox view:
1. **Update the route to `:type/:id`**
Previously, we used `notification_id` in the route. This has now been
changed to use a more generic structure like `conversation/:id`, with
`type` set to `"conversation"`. This refactor allows future support for
other types like `contact`, making the route structure more flexible.
It also fixes a critical issue: when a notification is open and a new
notification arrives for the same conversation, the conversation view
used to close unexpectedly. This issue is now resolved.
2. **Migrate components from Options API to Composition API**
Both `InboxList.vue` and `InboxView.vue` have been updated to use the
Composition API with `<script setup>`.
3. **Auto-scroll inbox item into view when navigating**
When navigating through `InboxItemHeader`, the corresponding inbox item
now automatically scrolls into view and load more notifications

This PR migrates the legacy OpenAI integration (where users provide
their own API keys) from using hardcoded `https://api.openai.com`
endpoints to use the configurable `CAPTAIN_OPEN_AI_ENDPOINT` from the
captain configuration. This ensures consistency across all OpenAI
integrations in the platform.
## Changes
- Updated `lib/integrations/openai_base_service.rb` to use captain
endpoint config
- Updated `enterprise/app/models/enterprise/concerns/article.rb` to use
captain endpoint config
- Removed unused `enterprise/lib/chat_gpt.rb` class
- Added tests for endpoint configuration behavior
# Creates contact when Instagram returns `No matching Instagram user`
## Description
The error occurs when Facebook tries to validate the Facebook App
created to authorize Instagram integration.
The Facebook's agent uses a Bot to make tests on the App where is not a
valid user via API, returning `{"error"=>{"message"=>"No matching
Instagram user", "type"=>"IGApiException", "code"=>9010}}`.
Then Facebook rejects the request saying this app is still not ready
once the integration with Instagram didn't work.
We can safely create an unknown contact, making this integration work.

This PR adds support for automatic SSL issuance using Cloudflare when a
custom domain is updated.
- Introduced a cloudflare configuration. If present, the system will
attempt to issue an SSL certificate via Cloudflare whenever a custom
domain is added or changed.
- SSL verification is handled using an HTTP challenge.
- The job will store the HTTP challenge response provided by Cloudflare
and serve it under the /.well-known/cf path automatically.
How to test:
- Create a Cloudflare zone for your domain and copy the Zone ID.
- Generate a Cloudflare API token with the required SSL certificate
permissions.
- Set the Fallback Origin under SSL -> Custom HostName to the Chatwoot
installation.
- Add or update a custom domain and verify that the SSL certificate is
automatically issued.

## cwctl
- allow setting up only web/worker deployments for linux
- allow upgrades to a custom branch - experimental
```
Usage Examples:
# Convert existing full deployment to web-only (for web ASG)
cwctl --convert web
# Convert existing full deployment to worker-only (for worker ASG)
cwctl --convert worker
# Convert specialized deployment back to full
cwctl --convert full
# Fresh installs still work as before
cwctl -i --web-only # New web-only install
cwctl -i --worker-only # New worker-only instal
```
- Upgrading to custom branches is risky, as other dependencies like node
or db might have changed
```
cwctl --upgrade # Upgrade to master branch - default
cwctl -U v4.3.0 # Upgrade to specific release branch
cwctl --upgrade feat/new-feature # Upgrade to feature branch
```
This pull request includes a small change to the `Dashboard.vue` file.
The change adds `'general_settings_index'` to the list of route names
checked for inclusion.

## What we have changed:
We have added support for WhatsApp campaigns as requested in the
discussion.
Ref: https://github.com/orgs/chatwoot/discussions/8465
**Note:** This implementation doesn't exactly match the maintainer's
specification and variable support is missing. This is an initial
implementation that provides the core WhatsApp campaign functionality.
### Changes included:
**Backend:**
- Added `template_params` column to campaigns table (migration + schema)
- Created `Whatsapp::OneoffCampaignService` for WhatsApp campaign
execution
- Updated campaign model to support WhatsApp inbox types
- Added template_params support to campaign controller and API
**Frontend:**
- Added WhatsApp campaign page, dialog, and form components
- Updated campaign store to filter WhatsApp campaigns separately
- Added WhatsApp-specific routes and empty state
- Updated i18n translations for WhatsApp campaigns
- Modified sidebar to include WhatsApp campaigns navigation
This provides a foundation for WhatsApp campaigns that can be extended
with variable support and other enhancements in future iterations.

## Description
This PR fixes an issue where editing a contact name from the “Contacts”
tab would not allow spaces in the First or Last Name fields — the space
would disappear immediately after typing.
This issue did not occur in the sidebar editor or when adding a new
contact.
**Cause:** The form had a deep watcher on `contactData`, which triggered
`prepareStateBasedOnProps()` on every nested change. This caused the
form state to reset.
**Solution:** Replaced the deep watcher with a shallow watcher that only
watches `contactData.id`.
This fires once on mount and whenever a new contact is selected,
avoiding unnecessary re-hydration while the user is typing.

This PR allows users to dynamically pass custom welcome and availability
messages, along with UI feature toggles, via `window.chatwootSettings`.
If any of the following settings are provided, the widget will use them;

## Description
This PR fixes an issue where typing variables, like `{{contact.name}}`,
caused the variable list to miss showing `contact.name`. The search key
in this case became `contact.name}},` which didn't match any available
options. The logic in `VariableList.vue` only checked the part after the
last comma and didn’t fully sanitize the input.
**Solution**
Updated `searchKey` to remove all {} and commas for accurate matching.

Currently, if a PR is open and a push happens, the Run Size Limit Check
workflow will start running. If, shortly after a subsequent push on the
same PR happens, the workflow will start running again without
cancelling the previous (now obsolete) run. With these changes, the
first run would be cancelled, thus saving compute resources (see below
for quantity) without sacrificing functionality, since the second run
will contain the changes from the first push as well.
Added conversation_status, assignee_id, team_id, and priority to the
message_created event to allow users to build automations based on
conversation details. Also introduced a new open_conversation action.

- We might need to disconnect the integration connect again.
When users delete the Linear integration from their Chatwoot dashboard,

it's been removed from Chatwoot. Users need to manually disconnect from

All migrations will automatically be wrapped in a transaction. There are
queries that you can’t execute inside a transaction. Adding index
concurrently is one of them, we have to disable the transaction. I
missed this in the earlier PR. #11831
This PR adds a composite index (:account_id, :content_type, :created_at)
on the table messages.
This index is added as a temporary fix for performance issues in the
CSAT responses controller where we query messages with account_id,
content_type and created_at. The current implementation
(account.message.input_csat.count) times out with millions of messages.
TODO: Create a dedicated csat_survey table and add entries when surveys
are sent, then query this table instead of the entire messages table for
better performance.
This PR fixes the reply time calculation for reopened conversations.
Previously, when a customer sent a message to reopen a resolved
conversation, the reply time metric would be calculated incorrectly
because the `waiting_since` timestamp was not properly set before the
reply event was dispatched. This would create a case where you'd have
reporting events like the following
```
[[33955732, "reply_time", 19.0],
[33955847, "reply_time", 24.0],
[33955666, "reply_time", 89.0],
[33955530, "conversation_bot_handoff", 4.0],
[33955567, "first_response", 42.0],
[33955745, "reply_time", 21.0],
[33955934, "reply_time", 49.0],
[33955906, "reply_time", 121.0],
[33987938, "conversation_resolved", 26285.0],
[35571005, "reply_time", 985492.0]]
```
Note the `reply_time` after `conversation_resolved`
The fix ensures that `waiting_since` is correctly updated when
conversations are reopened, either through incoming messages or manual
status changes, resulting in accurate reply time metrics that measure
only the time from the customer's new message to the agent's response.
## Type of change
Please delete options that are not relevant.
- [x] Bug fix (non-breaking change which fixes an issue)
## How Has This Been Tested?
The changes have been tested with comprehensive specs that verify:
1. **Reply time calculation after conversation reopening** - Ensures
correct timestamps are used when calculating reply times for reopened
conversations
2. **Waiting since updates on status changes** - Verifies that
`waiting_since` is properly set when conversation status changes from
resolved to open
3. **Test the happy path** - Happy path is tested to ensure the
`reply_time` and `first_response_time` is correctly calculated
Test instructions:
1. Create a conversation with the last message from a customer and
resolve it
2. Have an agent reopen it and reply to it
4. When an agent replies, verify that the agent reply_time event is not
created for this message
To fix any existing data, I've written a small script:

As part of PR [#11622](https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot/pull/11622),
we intentionally hide CSAT survey URLs from agents in the dashboard to
avoid exposing those links internally. However, email replies being
external communications to contacts should still include the survey
URLs.
We missed handling that specific case for email channels. All other
external channels like WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, etc., were already
working correctly and continue to include the survey URLs as intended.

The email jobs were failing in local development due to a cannot load

## Description
This PR includes the following improvements:
* **Popular Articles Locale Selection based on Widget Locale**
* Implements priority-based locale matching:
* Exact locale match (e.g., "fr" === "fr")
* Base language match (e.g., "fr" when selected is "fr_CA")
* Variant match (e.g., "fr_BE" when selected is "fr")
* Removes default locale fallback - if no locale match is found, popular
articles section is hidden.
* Fixed **API** filter issue where the locale parameter was previously
ignored
* Hides Popular Articles section completely when no locale match is
found and Only shows relevant articles in the user's language
* **RTL Direction Handling Improvements**
* Now directly reads the `lang` attribute from HTML element `<html
lang="en">` instead of relying on `.locale-switcher` and sets direction
attribute based on language.
* Adds `data-dir-applied` attribute to prevent overlapping direction
settings between global helpers and components (eg case: Insert article
in editor dashboard)
* Update `IframeLoader.vue` to Composition API and improve the **dir**
logic

## Description
This PR fixes the translation inconsistency in the reports pages, where
table-column headers reverted to English after a page reload.
**Cause**
The components defined the columns array statically, so header labels
were translated only once during component creation. On reload, the
table showed the default system language (English) until the user’s
locale finished loading.
**Solution**
Replaced the static columns array with a computed property and passed it
to `Tanstack useVueTable` via a getter. This makes the headers reactive,
ensuring they automatically update whenever the locale changes and
remain translated after every reload.

Fixes
https://linear.app/chatwoot/issue/CW-4507/slack-integration-not-showing-private-channels
## Problem
When the Slack workspace has many channels (requiring multiple API
requests to fetch all of them), our system was only looking for private
channels in the first batch of results. All subsequent batches were
missing the instruction to include private channels, so they only
returned public channels.
## Root Cause
- Initial API call correctly specified `types:
'public_channel,private_channel'`
- Pagination loop only passed `cursor` parameter, omitting `types` and
`exclude_archived`
- Subsequent pages defaulted to public channels only
## Changes
- Fixed parameter formatting in `types` (removed space:
`'public_channel, private_channel'` →
`'public_channel,private_channel'`)
- Added missing `types` and `exclude_archived` parameters to paginated
`conversations_list` calls

Users get confused between app routes and API routes. Instead of hitting
/api, they append /app in the API call, which ends up calling the
dashboard controller and throws an error. To fix this, we added a check
to throw a 406 Not Acceptable for non-HTML requests. But Meta requires
Accept: \*/\* to return 200 for the integration to be accepted.
This change will only throw an error for JSON requests.

The `matchesFilter` is a utility that checks the incoming payload
against a filter and returns `true` or `false`.
For the `greater_than` and `less_than` filter specifically, the date
parsing would fail when the timestamp was a 10 digit number.
This PR solves this by adding a `coerceToDate` method that tries to
parse the given value to a Date object as correctly as possible before
comparing.

## Problem
On platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, customers cannot
reply to messages after 24 hours (or other channel-specific messaging
windows). Despite this limitation, the system continued sending CSAT
surveys to customers outside their messaging window, making it
impossible for them to respond.
## Solution
Added a check for `conversation.can_reply?` in the
`should_send_csat_survey?` method. This leverages the existing
`MessageWindowService` which already handles all channel-specific
messaging window logic.
This PR improves the portal's internal link detection logic to be more
robust when handling empty or undefined configuration values.
Previously, the code could fail when `customDomain` was empty, causing
external links to incorrectly behave as internal links. The fix
introduces a new `isSameOrigin` helper function that safely compares
URLs using proper URL parsing and origin comparison, gracefully handling
edge cases like missing domains, relative paths, and malformed URLs.
This ensures external links consistently open in new tabs regardless of
portal configuration completeness.

- Add support for upsert messages to the copilotMessages store on
receiving ActionCable events.
- Implement support for the upsert option.
Description
In Rails 7.1+, accessing `schema_format` via `ActiveRecord::Base` is no
longer supported, causing a method error.
The correct approach is to use
`ActiveRecord.schema_format`, which aligns
with the public API.
This issue occurs locally because the environment uses newer versions of
Ruby and Rails than others.

## Description
This PR fixes a UI issue where very long attachment filenames (sometimes
including parameters or hashes) would overflow or break the layout in
the message bubble. The fix applies Tailwind's truncate utility class to
ensure these filenames are properly truncated with ellipsis, preserving
layout consistency and improving readability.
Fixes#11514
## Type of change
- [x] Bug fix (non-breaking change which fixes an issue)
## How Has This Been Tested?
- Manually tested with attachment messages containing long filenames
(e.g., with hashes, query params, or excessive length).
- Verified that filenames are now truncated with ellipsis.

- Add API support for creating a message
- Remove uuid from thread (no longer required, we will use existing

A while back, we added a UX enhancement that disabled sending the OOO
message when an agent had replied to the conversation in the last 5
minutes.
https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot/pull/11073
This would not send a "we will be back" message even if that reply was a
private note. This would break for bots that posted private notes, and
even for agents who need to just add a note and not actually reply to
the email.

Rails 7.1 ships with connection-pooling enabled by default for
`RedisCacheStore` (see rails/rails#45235).
Because we already wrap our Redis clients in our own `ConnectionPool`
($alfred / $velma), the upgrade resulted in a double-wrapped object and
runtime errors such as:
NoMethodError: undefined method `get` for an instance of ConnectionPool
This patch:
* Passes `pool: false` when instantiating `RedisCacheStore` in
`config/initializers/rack_attack.rb`, telling Rails to use the pool we
supply instead of building its own.
* Adds an inline comment explaining the rationale.
* Adds a TODO in `config/initializers/01_redis.rb` suggesting a future
simplification: switch to plain Redis clients and let Rails manage the
pool.

## Description
This PR addresses an issue where users were unable to view images sent
via WhatsApp on Chatwoot due to incorrect Twilio authentication
configuration.
https://app.chatwoot.com/app/accounts/1/conversations/50824
The problem stemmed from how authentication was being handled for Twilio
API requests. The user had configured their inbox using api_key_sid, but
the backend logic used only auth_token, leading to failed
authentication. Further investigation showed that some customers might
input api_secret into the auth_token field unintentionally.

- [ ] New feature (non-breaking change which adds functionality)
- [ ] Breaking change (fix or feature that would cause existing

## How Has This Been Tested?
- Tested on console with Client(api_key_sid, auth_token, account_sid)
and validated successful authentication for the customer (Twilio channel
ID: 2702).
- Simulated toggling the “Use API Key Authentication” checkbox to ensure
backend behavior matches UI intent
- Verified image rendering by testing with the same image URL that was
previously failing for the user.

This PR will prevent saving user preferences and online status when impersonating. Previously, these settings could be updated during impersonation, causing the user to see a different view or UI settings.
Fixes https://linear.app/chatwoot/issue/CW-4163/impersonation-improvements
We made so many improvements for CSAT via https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot/pull/11485. However, we missed showing message content in the dashboard for CSAT URLs created in non-widget inboxes. This PR fixes the issue by ensuring that CSAT-configured messages are passed along with CSAT responses, otherwise defaulting to the translation.
This PR adds a tool to search Linear issues. If the integration is
enabled for the account, the tool will return results as expected. Also
introduces support for an `active?` method, which allows third-party
Copilot tools to be conditionally enabled based on the status of the
integration on the account.
This PR introduces the concept of a tool registry. The implementation is
straightforward: you can define a tool by creating a class with a
function name. The function name gets registered in the registry and can
be referenced during LLM calls. When the LLM invokes a tool using the
registered name, the registry locates and executes the appropriate tool.
If the LLM calls an unregistered tool, the registry returns an error
indicating that the tool is not defined.

## Description
This PR fixes the translation inconsistency in the
`<ConversationBasicFilter />` component, where dropdown options would
revert to English after page reload.
**Cause:**
The component used static arrays for chat status and sort options, with
translations initialized only once. After a reload, it showed system
language (English) until the user's locale was fully loaded.
**Solution:**
Replaced static arrays with computed properties to make translations
reactive. This ensures the options automatically update when the locale
changes.

This PR introduces support for optionally exposing more data during LLM
function calls. This will be useful as we expand Copilot’s capabilities.
Changes included:
- Add support for ArticleLlmFormatter
- Add missing specs for ContactLLMFormatter and ArticleLLMFormatter
- Add additional spec for ConversationLLMFormatter based on config
The agents can see the previous conversations with the copilot if needed
with this change. We would have to cleanup the data after a while. For
now, that is not considered.
This PR adds:
- A new model for copilot_threads (intentionally named thread instead of
conversation to avoid confusion), copilot_messages
- Add the controller to fetch previous threads and messages.
- Currently Chatwoot manages Twilio Inbox creation in a separate
controller , We want to move this to inboxes api so that we have a
unified API for inbox related changes

[CW-4330](https://linear.app/chatwoot/issue/CW-4330/bug-attachments-in-gallery-view-gets-duplicated-when-you-navigate-back)
**Cause**
When navigating back to a previously viewed conversation, attachments
were being duplicated in the Gallery View. This occurred because the
`SET_ALL_ATTACHMENTS` mutation was appending new attachments to existing
ones `(attachments.push(...data))` instead of replacing them. Each time
a user returned to a conversation, the attachment list would grow,
showing duplicate images.
**Solution**
Updated the `SET_ALL_ATTACHMENTS` mutation to replace the entire
attachments array instead of appending to it. This change ensures
attachments are cleared before adding new ones when returning to a
previously viewed conversation, preventing duplicates.

## Description
This PR introduces a `CustomTeleport` component that wraps Vue's
Teleport to preserve directionality context (ltr / rtl) when teleporting
content outside the app’s root container.
### Problem
Currently, the app sets the text direction (`[dir="ltr"]` or
`[dir="rtl"]`) on a container `div` inside `<body>`, not on `<body>`
itself. When content is teleported directly into `body`, it no longer
inherits the correct direction context. As a result, direction-aware
utility classes like `ltr:pl-2`, `rtl:ml-1`, etc., break because CSS
selectors like `[dir="ltr"] .ltr\:pl-2` no longer match. Identified this
issue when working on this
[PR](https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot/pull/11382)
### Solution
The `CustomTeleport` component automatically applies the correct `[dir]`
attribute (`ltr` or `rtl`) on the teleported content's wrapper based on
the current `isRTL` setting from the store. This ensures that
direction-specific Tailwind utility classes continue to work as
expected, even when the content is rendered outside the app root.

This PR updates docker-compose.production.yaml to simplify volume
management and eliminate host-path mounts that were causing permission
and startup errors.
The custom filters API previously required a filter_type attribute, even
when accessing a resource by its ID, which isn’t necessary. This PR
removes that condition.

Previously, agent bots weren’t allowed to edit custom attributes in

This PR fixes an issue where messages from the agent bot were incorrectly displayed as "BOT" with a missing avatar. It now correctly shows the agent bot’s name and avatar URL in the message list.
This PR does the following:
- Missing translations to the i18n file.
- Test the change with Malayalam (ml) translation.
- Fixes overflow by setting the width to 100%
_Note_: The prompt text is also set for translation. This is
intentional, there is no change in the behaviour.

## Description
This PR fixes an issue with slug validation in the Help Center portal
settings. Previously, users were able to create or update slugs with
invalid characters such as spaces, slashes, and special symbols, which
cause help center to crash.
With this update, slug creation and updates are now properly validated.
Only slugs that match the allowed pattern will be accepted. No spaces,
underscores, slashes, or special characters are allowed.
Examples: **user**, **user-guide**

The pre-commit hook was failing when there were staged deleted files
because:
- It was using 'ls' to filter files, which fails when they don't exist
in the filesystem
- Deleted files are still in Git's staging area but not in the
filesystem
Changes made:
1. Added a check to filter files with 'test -f' before passing to
Rubocop
2. Added the same check for staging Rubocop's changes
3. Added '|| true' to prevent errors when no files match the filters
This ensures the pre-commit hook completes successfully even when files
are staged for deletion.
Some files were not shown because too many files have changed in this diff
