49b0ab0e1f fix: Consider business hours when computing SLA breaches (#13392)
- Fixes SLA breach computation to respect the "Only during business
hours" setting
- Backend now pre-computes SLA deadlines, simplifying frontend logic

## How it works

Before: SLA deadlines were calculated using wall-clock time, ignoring
business hours.

After: When an SLA policy has "Only during business hours" enabled and
the inbox has working hours configured, the deadline is calculated by
adding threshold time only during business hours.

**How you check if a conversation has a SLA hit or miss?**

<img width="474" height="510" alt="Screenshot 2026-01-28 at 7 06 53 PM"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/54ec8581-18b8-45c6-a356-de8c778ea78d"
/>

**Example:**
- Conversation created: Friday 4:30 PM
- FRT threshold: 1 hour
- Business hours: Mon-Fri 9 AM - 5 PM

| | Breach time |
|--|--|
| Before | Friday 5:30 PM |
| After | Monday 9:30 AM |

## Test plan

- [x] Create an SLA policy with "Only during business hours" enabled
- [x] Configure inbox with business hours (e.g., Mon-Fri 9-5)
- [x] Conversation created during business hours
  - Create a conversation on Wednesday 10:00 AM UTC
- Expected: FRT deadline shows Wednesday 12:00 PM UTC (2 business hours
later)
- [x] Conversation created before business hours
  - Create a conversation on Wednesday 7:00 AM UTC
- Expected: FRT deadline shows Wednesday 11:00 AM UTC (counting starts
at 9 AM)
- [x] Conversation created after business hours
  - Create a conversation on Wednesday 6:00 PM UTC
- Expected: FRT deadline shows Thursday 11:00 AM UTC (counting starts
next day 9 AM)
- [x] Conversation created on weekend
  - Create a conversation on Saturday 10:00 AM UTC
  - Expected: FRT deadline shows Monday 11:00 AM UTC (skips weekend)
- [x] Threshold spans weekend
  - Create a conversation on Friday 4:00 PM UTC with 2-hour FRT
- Expected: FRT deadline shows Monday 10:00 AM UTC (1h Friday + 1h
Monday)
- [x] SLA without business hours
  - Create an SLA policy with only_during_business_hours: false
  - Create a conversation on Friday 4:00 PM UTC with 2-hour FRT
  - Expected: FRT deadline shows Friday 6:00 PM UTC (wall-clock time)
- [x] All Day marked as closed_all_day
  - Create a conversation on Tuesday 4:00 PM UTC with 2-hour FRT
  - Expected: FRT deadline shows Thursday 10:00 AM UTC
- [x] All Day marked as open_all_day
  - Create a conversation on Saturday 10:00 AM UTC with 2-hour FRT
  - Expected: FRT deadline shows Saturday 12:00 PM UTC
- [x] UI displays correct countdown
  - Verify conversation card shows correct SLA timer
  - Verify timer shows flame icon when breached
  - Verify timer shows alarm icon when within threshold
  - Time updates automatically when time passes
- [x] Verify the breach with a different timezone than your local
timezone

f9cc702030 fix(help-center): documentation layout on custom domain root, locale (#14850)
Help centers using the documentation layout now render correctly in two
cases that previously fell back to the wrong output. Opening a portal at
its custom-domain root (e.g. docs.example.com/ ) now shows the full
documentation home
in place instead of the classic layout, and portals whose locale is a
region variant that Chatwoot doesn't ship a
translation for (e.g. th_TH , fr_ML ) now show their categories in the
sidebar on article pages.

Closes
https://linear.app/chatwoot/issue/CW-7437/portal-layout-is-not-properly-working-in-custom-domain

## How to test

1. Create a portal with the documentation layout and a custom domain
(e.g. example.chat.test ), with at least one
category containing a published article.
2. Visit the custom-domain root ( http://example.chat.test:3000/ ) → it
should show the full documentation home
(sidebar, topbar), not the classic layout, with no redirect.
3. Set the portal's locale to a region variant Chatwoot doesn't
translate, e.g. th_TH , with categories/articles
under that locale.
4. Open an article → the sidebar should list the article's category and
sibling articles. Before the fix the sidebar
was empty for these locales.

6a262287d2 feat(captain): allow agents to report Captain messages (#14799)
Adds a cloud-only flow for agents to flag incorrect or problematic
Captain (AI) responses. Right-clicking a Captain message surfaces a
"Report message" option that opens a dialog to pick a problem type and
add a description, persisted to a new captain_message_reports table for
the team to review.

64c5aeebee feat(help-center): support per-locale portal title, name & header (#14642)
Portals can now override their name, page title and header text per
locale, with a fallback chain of locale override → default locale → base
value. Overrides are stored under portal.config.locale_translations and
validated with a JSON schema.

Editing is exposed as a "Localize content" action in each non-default
locale's menu on the Locale page, and all public-facing portal views
(classic + documentation layouts) render the localized values. The live
chat widget is also loaded in the active portal locale.

6c67eb9ba0 fix(notifications): Respect conversation access when notifying agents (#14412)
Agents with limited custom roles were receiving notifications (creation,
assignment, mentions, new messages, SLA) for conversations they couldn't
actually open. For example, an agent whose custom role only grants
`conversation_unassigned_manage` was getting notified about
conversations assigned to other agents.

Notifications now go through the same `ConversationPolicy#show?` check
that gates the conversation view itself, so an agent only gets notified
for conversations they're permitted to see. Administrators and agents
without custom roles are unaffected.

PranavandGitHub a01adf860a fix: [CW-7001] Limit emails fetch (#14354)
This PR limits IMAP email fetching to 500 messages per sync run to avoid
expensive/long-running mailbox scans. It also filters out
already-imported emails and Chatwoot-generated notification emails
during the header fetch phase, before fetching full email bodies,
reducing unnecessary IMAP work.

64790ea204 fix: Redirect to the conversation URL if custom_view is not available (#14340)
When an agent shares a conversation link copied from a custom view (e.g.
/custom_view/{id}/conversations/{id}), the link previously broke for
recipients who didn't have access to that custom view. The conversation
now loads regardless — if the custom view isn't available to the
recipient, they're redirected to the direct conversation URL.

### How to reproduce

1. As Agent A, open a conversation from inside a personal custom view
and copy the URL from the address bar.
2. Share the URL with Agent B who does not have access to that custom
view.
3. Before this fix, the link failed to load the conversation. After this
fix, Agent B lands on the conversation via the direct URL.

### What changed

- Added a beforeEnter guard on the conversations_through_folders route.
It checks the user's available conversation custom views (fetching them
on demand for deep links), and if the foldersId in the URL isn't among
them, redirects to the inbox_conversation route with the same
conversation_id.

PranavandGitHub 42163946eb fix: Ignore RoutingError in New Relic error reporting (#14030)
Routing errors (404s) are expected in production and don't represent
actionable issues. Reporting them to New Relic creates noise and makes
it harder to spot real errors. Adds ActionController::RoutingError to
the New Relic error_collector.ignore_errors list so these are no longer
tracked as exceptions.

441fe4db11 fix: scope external_url override to Instagram DM conversations only (#13982)
Previously, all incoming messages from Facebook channel with
instagram_id had their attachment data_url and thumb_url overridden with
external_url. This caused issues for non-Instagram conversations
originating from Facebook Message where the file URL should be used
instead.

Narrows the override to only apply when the conversation type is
instagram_direct_message, which is the only case where Instagram's CDN
URLs need to be used directly.

PranavandGitHub c6f82783ba chore: Remove message touch:true, use combined update query (#13770)
Removes touch: true from the belongs_to :conversation association on
Message and consolidates the conversation timestamp update into the
existing set_conversation_activity callback.

Previously, every message save triggered two separate UPDATE queries on
the conversation — one from Rails' touch (updating updated_at) and
another from set_conversation_activity (updating last_activity_at). This
combines both into a single update_columns call, reducing write load on
the conversations table on every message creation.

### What changed
- Removed touch: true from belongs_to :conversation in Message
- Added updated_at: created_at to the existing update_columns call in
set_conversation_activity

PranavandGitHub 6a7cbcf5ba fix: Fixes reply-to in WhatsApp Cloud API (#13467)
This change https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot/pull/13371 broke the
functionality. When a user replies to a WhatsApp message, the reply
context wasn't being properly stored in Chatwoot due to #13371

WhatsApp sends reply messages with a `context` field containing the
original message ID:
```json
{
    "messages": [{
      "context": {
        "from": "phone_number",
        "id": "wamid.ORIGINAL_MESSAGE_ID"
      },
      "from": "phone_number",
      "id": "wamid.REPLY_MESSAGE_ID",
      "text": { "body": "This is a reply" }
    }]
  }
```
However, the in_reply_to_external_id was being overridden when building
the message because content_attributes was explicitly set to either {
external_echo: true } or {}, which discarded the reply-to information.

### What

Forces `account_id` to be applied consistently in queries and message creation paths.

### Why

Some queries were missing `account_id`, leading to cross-account scans and slow performance in large datasets.

### Changes

* Added `account_id` to the relevant query columns.
* Ensured messages are always created within the correct account scope.
* Updated `created_at` handling where required for consistency.

### Impact

* Prevents cross-account queries.
* Improves query performance.
* Reduces risk of incorrect data access across accounts.

### Notes

No functional behavior change for end users. This is a performance and safety fix.

PranavandGitHub ad2329c237 perf(conversations): throttle agent_last_seen_at updates to reduce DB load (#13355)
High-traffic accounts generate excessive database writes due to agents
frequently switching between conversations. The update_last_seen
endpoint was being called every time an agent loaded a conversation,
resulting in unnecessary updates to agent_last_seen_at and
assignee_last_seen_at even when there were no new messages to mark as
read.

#### Solution
Implemented throttling for the update_last_seen endpoint:

**Unread messages present:**
- Updates immediately without throttling to maintain accurate
read/unread state
- Uses assignee_unread_messages for assignees, unread_messages for other
agents

**No unread messages:**
- Throttles updates to once per hour per conversation
- Checks if agent_last_seen_at is older than 1 hour before updating
- For assignees, checks both agent_last_seen_at AND
assignee_last_seen_at - updates if either timestamp is old
- Skips DB write if all relevant timestamps were updated within the last
hour

- Consolidated two separate update_column calls into a single
update_columns call to reduce DB queries

PranavandGitHub a8b302d4cd feat(ee): Review Notes for CSAT Reports (#13289)
CSAT scores are helpful, but on their own they rarely tell the full
story. A drop in rating can come from delayed timelines, unclear
expectations, or simple misunderstandings, even when the issue itself
was handled correctly.

Review Notes for CSAT let admins/report manager roles add internal-only
context next to each CSAT response. This makes it easier to interpret
scores properly and focus on patterns and root causes, not just numbers.

<img width="2170" height="1680" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/56df7fab-d0a7-4a94-95b9-e4c459ad33d5"
/>

### Why this matters

* Capture the real context behind individual CSAT ratings
* Clarify whether a low score points to a genuine service issue or a
process gap
* Spot recurring themes across conversations and teams
* Make CSAT reviews more useful for leadership reviews and
retrospectives

### How Review Notes work

**View CSAT responses**
Open the CSAT report to see overall metrics, rating distribution, and
individual responses.

**Add a Review Note**
For any CSAT entry, managers can add a Review Note directly below the
customer’s feedback.

**Document internal insights**
Use Review Notes to capture things like:

* Why a score was lower or higher than expected
* Patterns you are seeing across similar cases
* Observations around communication, timelines, or customer expectations

Review Notes are visible only to administrators and people with report
access only. We may expand visibility to agents in the future based on
feedback. However, customers never see them.

Each note clearly shows who added it and when, making it easy to review
context and changes over time.

PranavandGitHub 0917e1a646 feat: Add an API to support querying metrics by ChannelType (#13255)
This API gives you how many conversations exist per channel, broken down
by status in a given time period. The max time period is capped to 6
months for now.

**Input Params:**
- **since:** Unix timestamp (seconds) - start of date range
- **until:** Unix timestamp (seconds) - end of date range

**Response Payload:**

```json
{
  "Channel::Sms": {
    "resolved": 85,
    "snoozed": 10,
    "open": 5,
    "pending": 5,
    "total": 100
  },
  "Channel::Email": {
    "resolved": 72,
    "snoozed": 15,
    "open": 13,
    "pending": 13,
    "total": 100
  },
  "Channel::WebWidget": {
    "resolved": 90,
    "snoozed": 7,
    "open": 3,
    "pending": 3,
    "total": 100
  }
}
```

**Definitons:**
resolved = Number of conversations created within the selected time
period that are currently marked as resolved.
snoozed = Number of conversations created within the selected time
period that are currently marked as snoozed.
pending = Number of conversations created within the selected time
period that are currently marked as pending.
open = Number of conversations created within the selected time period
that are currently open.
total = Total number of conversations created within the selected time
period, across all statuses.

PranavandGitHub ded2f2751a fix: Rendering of translations based on the user's locale (#13211)
Previously, translations were generated and resolved purely based on the
account locale. This caused issues in multi-team, multi-region setups
where agents often work in different languages than the account default.

For example, an account might be set to English, while an agent prefers
Spanish. In this setup:
- Translations were always created using the account locale.
- Agents could not view content in their preferred language.
- This did not scale well for global teams.

There was also an issue with locale resolution during rendering, where
the system would incorrectly default to the account locale even when a
more appropriate locale should have been used.

With this update, During rendering, the system first attempts to use the
agent’s locale. If a translation for that locale does not exist, it
falls back to the account locale.

**How to test:**

- Set agent locale to a specific language (e.g., zh_CN) and account
language to en.
  - Translate a message.
- Verify translated content displays correctly for the agent's selected
locale
  - Do the same for another locale for agent.
- With multiple translations on a message (e.g., zh_CN, es, ml), verify
the UI shows the one matching agent's locale
- Change agent locale and verify the displayed translation updates
accordingly

PranavandGitHub 7ba7bf842e fix: Use SignedId instead of regular ID in portal update (#13197)
The Active Storage blob ids were handled inconsistently across the API.

- When a new logo was uploaded, the upload controller returned a
signed_id
- When loading an existing portal that already had a logo, the portal
model returned a blob_id.

This caused the API portal API to fail. There are about 107 instances of
this in production, so this change will fix that.

PranavandGitHub 79381a4c5f fix: Add code_block method to WhatsApp and Instagram markdown renderers (#13166)
Problem: SystemStackError: stack level too deep occurred when rendering
messages with indented content (4+ spaces) for WhatsApp, Instagram, and
Facebook channels.

Root Cause: CommonMarker::Renderer#code_block contains a self-recursive
placeholder that must be overridden:
```
  def code_block(node)
    code_block(node)  # calls itself infinitely
  end
```

WhatsAppRenderer and InstagramRenderer were missing this override,
causing infinite recursion when markdown with 4-space indentation
(interpreted as code blocks) was rendered.

Fix: Added code_block method to both renderers that outputs the node
content as plain text:
```
  def code_block(node)
    out(node.string_content)
  end
 ```

254d5dcf9a chore: Migrate mailers from the worker to jobs (#12331)
Previously, email replies were handled inside workers. There was no
execution logs. This meant if emails silently failed (as reported by a

assumption was “no error = mail sent.”

By moving email handling into jobs, we now have proper execution logs
for each attempt. This makes it easier to debug delivery issues and
would have better visibility when investigating customer reports.

47bdb6d2bb feat: Clean up email configuration for from and reply to emails (#12453)
We first added conversation continuity for the live chat widget, and
then carried the same logic over to email channels.

The problem was that this added a reply+conversationUUID@domain.com as

That extra layer made things more complex than it needed to be. In this

  account.save!
end
```
2. Enable indexing for all accounts with paid subscription.
```rb

account.enable_features(:advanced_search_indexing)
  account.save!
end
```
PranavandGitHub e3020fbe2c fix: Use case sensitive filter for phone_numbers (#12470)
The contact filter APIs were timing out due to the case‑insensitive
filter. There is no index for lower case phone numbers, so it would
perform a table scan, potentially examining 8 million records or more at
a time.
This change should fix the issue.
I am changing the filter to use direct comparison without lower‑case.
**Previous:**
```sql
SELECT contacts.*
FROM contacts
WHERE contacts.account_id = $1
  AND (
    LOWER(contacts.phone_number) = '<number>'
    OR LOWER(contacts.phone_number) = '<other-number>'
  )

```sql
SELECT contacts.*
FROM contacts
WHERE contacts.account_id = $1
  AND (
    contacts.phone_number = '<number>'
PranavandGitHub de4430ea5d feat: Introduce allowed_domains for web widget (#12450)
We wanted to provide an option for users to specify the domains on which
they can show the website. The rest of the sites shouldn't see the
widget at all.
It's not possible generally through Origin because you can't get Origin
when loading via an iframe. What I've done is add frame ancestors for
the domains specified in allowed domains. I hope this solves most of the
problems.
This is added in a way that it won't affect existing widgets. Only If
they have configured allowed domains, it will start blocking. Otherwise,
it would follow the previous behavior without any changes.
This change supports called wild card domains as well. You can add a
comma‑separated list of domains, either wild card or regular domains.
ffa124d0d5 fix: Use .find_by instead .where().first (#12402)
While investigating a customer-reported issue, I found that some emails
were appearing late in Chatwoot. The root cause was query timeouts.
It only happened for emails with an in_reply_to header. In these cases,
Chatwoot first checks if a message exists with message_id = in_reply_to.
If not, it falls back to checking conversations where
additional_attributes->>'in_reply_to' = ?.
We were using:
```rb
@inbox.conversations.where("additional_attributes->>'in_reply_to' = ?", in_reply_to).first
```
This looked harmless, but .first caused timeouts. Without .first, the
query ran fine. The issue was the generated SQL:
```sql
SELECT *
FROM conversations
WHERE inbox_id = $1
  AND (additional_attributes->>'in_reply_to' = '<in-reply-to-id>')
ORDER BY id ASC
LIMIT $2;
```
The ORDER BY id forced a full scan, even with <10k records.
The fix was to replace .first with .find_by:
```rb
@inbox.conversations.find_by("additional_attributes->>'in_reply_to' = ?", in_reply_to)
```
This generates:
```sql
SELECT *
FROM conversations
WHERE inbox_id = $1
  AND (additional_attributes->>'in_reply_to' = '<in-reply-to-id>')
LIMIT $2;
```
This avoids the scan and runs quickly without needing an index.
By the way, Cursor and Claude failed
[here](https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot/pull/12401), it just kept on
adding the index without figuring out the root cause.
PranavandGitHub f4643116df feat: Run assignment every 15 minutes (#12334)
Currently, auto-assignment runs only during conversation creation or
update events. If no agents are online when new conversations arrive,
those conversations remain unassigned.
With this change, unassigned conversations will be automatically
assigned once agents become available. The job runs every 15 minutes and
uses a fair distribution threshold of 100 to prevent a large number of
conversations from being assigned to a single available agent. This will
be customizable later.
88cb5ba56f fix: Widget now shows articles based on correct locale (#12316)
# Pull Request Template
## Description
This PR fixes an issue (CW-5529) where articles displayed on the widget
were not respecting the current locale set in the URL (e.g., `/ar` was
showing English articles).
The root cause was that the article queries in the
`_featured_articles.html.erb` and `_uncategorized-block.html.erb` view
templates were missing locale filtering.
The fix involves adding `locale: @locale` to the `articles.where`
clauses in these templates to ensure that only articles matching the
current portal locale are displayed.
Fixes #CW-5529
## Type of change
- [x] Bug fix (non-breaking change which fixes an issue)
- [ ] New feature (non-breaking change which adds functionality)
- [ ] Breaking change (fix or feature that would cause existing
functionality not to work as expected)
## How Has This Been Tested?
The changes were verified against existing test cases that confirm the
expected behavior for locale-specific article filtering. Specifically,
tests for the articles controller's `index` action and article count by
locale were reviewed, which align with the implemented fixes.
PranavandGitHub 0c2ab7f5e7 feat(ee): Setup advanced, performant message search (#12193)
We now support searching within the actual message content, email
subject lines, and audio transcriptions. This enables a faster, more
accurate search experience going forward. Unlike the standard message
search, which is limited to the last 3 months, this search has no time
restrictions.
The search engine also accounts for small variations in queries. Minor
spelling mistakes, such as searching for slck instead of Slack, will
still return the correct results. It also ignores differences in accents
and diacritics, so searching for Deja vu will match content containing
Déjà vu.
We can also refine searches in the future by criteria such as:
- Searching within a specific inbox
- Filtering by sender or recipient
- Limiting to messages sent by an agent
PranavandGitHub 7f56cd92f8 chore: Update the prompts to include language of the account for FAQs (#12280)
There were customer reported issues with FAQs which were generated in a
different langauge than what they were expecting. The reason behind this
was that the language of the account was not considered in the prompt
provided. If the language of the content was say Spanish, and the
account locale was english. The output was not predicable. The output
depends on the model and the execution time.
This PR would update the prompt to behave consistently with the account
locale. Even though the content provided is in a different language, it
would generate FAQs in the account locale.
Changes:
- Updated the prompt to include a detailed expectation of the FAQs
quality along with the language
- Added specs for the services where the prompt generator is called.
Tested the prompt using Phoenix playground across GPT 5, GPT 4.1, GPT
4.0. The reasoning setting for GPT 5 needs to be low so that it doesn't
generate random questions like "What was this updated?"
7e70f7a68a fix: Disable automations on auto-reply emails (#12101)
The term "sorcerer’s apprentice mode" is defined as a bug in a protocol
where, under some circumstances, the receipt of a message causes
multiple messages to be sent, each of which, when received, triggers the
same bug. - RFC3834
Reference: https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot/pull/9606
- Adds an auto_reply attribute to message.
- Adds an auto_reply attribute to conversation.
- Disable conversation_created / conversation_opened event if auto_reply
is set.
- Disable message_created event if auto_reply is set.
PranavandGitHub 661e905dbd fix: Skip HookJob for inactive or irrelevant hooks (#12093)
On Aug 2, we had a P0 because of a sudden spike in Sidekiq jobs. The
queue went up to 100k jobs and workers scaled from 400 threads to 1000+.
Most of the jobs were HookJobs, and a large chunk of them were for
Linear but they weren’t doing anything useful.
Turns out, whenever there’s an update on a contact or conversation, we
were triggering all account-level hooks without checking if the event
was relevant. So if someone did a bulk import or ran an update, it would
enqueue a huge number of unnecessary jobs.
This PR adds two checks before enqueuing:
- Whether the hook is active
- Whether the event is relevant for that hook
PranavandGitHub 5ab913f7b5 chore: Add a condition to handle bounced email (#11873)
Add bounced emails to the conversation thread.
Fix Gmail bounce detection by checking the X-Failed-Recipients header.
Currently, bounced emails are rejected as auto-replies, which causes
support agents to miss important delivery failure context. This PR
ensures bounced messages are correctly added to the thread, preserving
visibility for the support team.
420be64c45 chore: Automate SSL with Cloudflare (#12021)
This PR adds support for automatic SSL issuance using Cloudflare when a
custom domain is updated.
- Introduced a cloudflare configuration. If present, the system will
attempt to issue an SSL certificate via Cloudflare whenever a custom
domain is added or changed.
- SSL verification is handled using an HTTP challenge.
- The job will store the HTTP challenge response provided by Cloudflare
and serve it under the /.well-known/cf path automatically.
How to test:
- Create a Cloudflare zone for your domain and copy the Zone ID.
- Generate a Cloudflare API token with the required SSL certificate
permissions.
- Set the Fallback Origin under SSL -> Custom HostName to the Chatwoot
installation.
- Add or update a custom domain and verify that the SSL certificate is
automatically issued.
PranavandGitHub eea1ab3002 fix: Add composite index on messages for csat_metrics API performance (#11831)
This PR adds a composite index (:account_id, :content_type, :created_at)
on the table messages.
This index is added as a temporary fix for performance issues in the
CSAT responses controller where we query messages with account_id,
content_type and created_at. The current implementation
(account.message.input_csat.count) times out with millions of messages.
TODO: Create a dedicated csat_survey table and add entries when surveys
are sent, then query this table instead of the entire messages table for
better performance.
PranavandGitHub 4a83e70158 fix: Avoid throwing 406 for non-json requests (#11701)
Users get confused between app routes and API routes. Instead of hitting
/api, they append /app in the API call, which ends up calling the
dashboard controller and throws an error. To fix this, we added a check
to throw a 406 Not Acceptable for non-HTML requests. But Meta requires
Accept: \*/\* to return 200 for the integration to be accepted.
This change will only throw an error for JSON requests.
